Rain Diary is a Finnish rock band that plays beautiful and twisted dark wave tunes.
The band’s debut album – The Lights Are Violent Here – has been acclaimed by Finnish critics for it’s beautiful and longing melodies laid upon highly nuanced and desolate texture. TLAVH is a cohesive mixture of catchy pop-style songs and longer progressive tunes. One could say that Rain Diary’s music can be revelled in as a single bites but comes truly alive in a full album format.
TLAVH bears roots to 80’s but is still strongly located to present day. It has width of Depeche Mode’s stadium scale anthems (Shame, Lost) but occasionally strips itself naked only to find intimate way to cut even deeper (You Will Die Alone, By The Water).
Rain Diary’s tales are bittersweet, often tragically ending romances under harsh urban streetlights. In general, Rain Diary aims to bring solace and touch people with black lipstick and industrial loaded gothic minds.
The Single “The Lights Are Violent Here” went up to number #7 in the official independent record store charts in Finland and entered top # 30 of the official sales charts in Finland.
